As per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, every state government in India has got authority to develop and implement a road tax as per their rural/urban transportation department.

The state of Odisha, formerly known as Orissa, has also created road tax for those who have their own vehicles in the state. The road tax rate is not a single flat tax rate, it is depended on multiple factors such as ex-showroom price, registration charges and certificate, driving license, insurance certificate, tax payment receipt etc.

A motor insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Odisha RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

Odisha Road Tax Rates

One time tax for New Motor Cycle, with or without attachment, at the time of its first registration.

New Vehicles - Onetime tax for Motor car, jeep, private service vehicle and Educational Bus which is constructed or adapted to carry not more than twelve persons excluding driver, Omni buses motor cab and maxi cab, at the time of its first registration.

Payment of Road Tax in Odisha

The most convenient mode of paying road tax is online from the official website of the Odisha Motor Vehicle Department. Simply enter the vehicle registration number, chassis and the location of the RTO where the vehicle was registered. The payment can be done via net banking.

For vehicles of the state or from outside the state, road tax can be paid in advance to the respective Regional Transport Organization.
